The renamed, cosmetically updated successor to the LG-2: a mahogany body (solid back, laminated sides) under a solid spruce top, typically in cherry sunburst with a belly-up adjustable bridge.
About the Gibson B-25
The B-25 is effectively a rebadged and refreshed LG-2, introduced in 1962 when Gibson gave the model a cosmetic update - most visibly a switch to cherry sunburst finish, a belly-up adjustable bridge and a thicker pickguard - while keeping the same mahogany-body, spruce-top construction and rosewood fingerboard as its predecessor. Construction pairs a solid mahogany back with laminated mahogany sides, a mix uncommon on higher-end flat-tops but typical of Gibson's mid-tier acoustics of the era.
Nut width and bridge details shifted across the model's run: the earliest examples used a standard 1 11/16-inch nut, but from 1965 the neck narrowed to 1 5/8 inches. Many examples carry a plastic bridge with a ceramic adjustable saddle rather than a bone saddle, and the bridge itself changed from an upper-belly to a lower-belly shape in 1968. The B-25 was also offered in a 12-string variant (B-25-12) and a shorter 3/4-scale body option alongside the standard model.

Sound character of the Gibson B-25
The B-25's mahogany back and sides and modestly sized body (between the small LG models and the full J-45 dreadnought) give it a warm, midrange-focused voice with less bass extension and volume than a full dreadnought, but a quicker, more focused response than larger-bodied Gibsons.

The history of the Gibson B-25
Gibson's B series - comprising the B-15, B-25 and B-45 - ran from 1961 to 1979 as the company's mid-tier acoustic lineup, sitting between its budget LG models and its higher-appointed Southern Jumbo/Hummingbird-tier instruments. The B-25 specifically continued the LG-2's tonal identity under a new name and updated cosmetics, making it a common recommendation for players seeking LG-2-style tone without the premium collector pricing that name sometimes commands.
