About the Fender Player II Precision Bass

The Player II Precision Bass carries the fingerboard and neck refinements of the whole Player II line into Fender's original electric bass shape: a Modern "C"-profile neck finished in satin urethane, a 9.5-inch-radius fingerboard with rolled edges, and 20 medium jumbo frets on the standard 34-inch bass scale. The body is alder in a mix of classic and series-exclusive finishes, with the model's 1.625-inch nut width matching the Precision Bass's traditionally chunkier neck feel compared to the Jazz Bass.

Electronics are a single Player Series Alnico V split-coil P-bass pickup, the configuration that gives the Precision Bass its thick, punchy fundamental tone, wired to a simple volume and tone control layout. The bridge is an adjustable 4-saddle design with single-groove steel saddles, paired with open-gear tuners for stable tuning.

Sound character of the Fender Player II Precision Bass

Like all Precision Basses, the single split-coil humbucking pickup cancels hum while emphasizing a thick, punchy fundamental; the Player II's alder body and updated pickup winding keep that classic warm P-Bass voice with slightly more modern output.

The history of the Fender Player II Precision Bass

The Fender Precision Bass, introduced in 1951, was the first mass-produced electric bass guitar and remains the format's most widely imitated design. The Player II Series update arrived in July 2024, bringing neck and fingerboard refinements previously reserved for costlier American-made basses down to Fender's Mexican-built Player line.
