An all-mahogany tenor ukulele finished in Martin's deliberately worn-looking StreetMaster process, an ultra-thin satin coat applied to look decades-played straight from the factory rather than aged through genuine use.
About the Martin T1 StreetMaster
The T1 StreetMaster shares its core build with Martin's other tenor ukuleles - solid mahogany top, back and sides for a light, bright-toned instrument at a 17-inch scale - but is finished through Martin's StreetMaster process: an ultra-thin satin topcoat that leaves the wood looking naturally worn and weathered, as if it had been gigged for years, rather than the clean gloss or standard satin of a new instrument. It's a deliberate cosmetic choice, not a byproduct of cheaper materials.
Construction includes an applied dovetail neck joint, a select hardwood neck with standard taper hand-rubbed to a dark mahogany color, a Sipo fingerboard and Morado bridge, and a compensated white Tusq saddle. The fingerboard carries 20 frets with white plastic position markers on top and side, non-scalloped spruce bracing inside, and black "Ratio" tuning pegs - appointments matching Martin's standard tenor ukuleles beneath the aged-look finish.

Sound character of the Martin T1 StreetMaster
All-mahogany construction on top, back and sides produces a warm, midrange-forward tone with less top-end sparkle than a spruce-topped instrument, while the larger tenor body and 17-inch scale give more low-end fullness than a soprano or concert ukulele of the same wood. The StreetMaster's ultra-thin finish is purely cosmetic and has no meaningful effect on the tone versus Martin's other tenor ukuleles.

The history of the Martin T1 StreetMaster
Martin introduced the StreetMaster finish across several of its guitar and ukulele lines to give players the look of a well-loved vintage instrument without the fragility or cost of an actual decades-old Martin, and the T1 StreetMaster remains one of the brand's most consistently reviewed ukuleles for the combination of tone and price.
