An extended-body tenor ukulele - larger than a standard tenor without reaching baritone territory - built entirely from solid mahogany with an unusually long 18.875-inch scale for extra low-string tension and volume.
About the Kala All Solid Mahogany Tenor XL
The Tenor XL sits between a standard tenor and a baritone ukulele in size: Kala extends the body length to 12.625 inches and the scale to 18.875 inches - noticeably longer than a typical tenor's roughly 17 inches - while keeping standard GCEA tenor tuning rather than switching to baritone's DGBE. That extra scale length under standard tuning increases string tension and body resonance, aimed at players who want a fuller, louder tenor voice without baritone's different tuning and lower register.
Construction is solid mahogany throughout for the top, back and sides, with a striped ebony fingerboard and flame maple binding for visual contrast against the plainer mahogany body. It comes strung with D'Addario Clear Nylon strings including a wound low-G string, and uses a Graph Tech NuBone nut and saddle, finished in satin to let the wood grain show through.

Sound character of the Kala All Solid Mahogany Tenor XL
The extended 18.875-inch scale under standard tenor tuning increases string tension and body resonance compared to a regular tenor, giving a fuller, louder, more sustained voice than Kala's standard-scale mahogany tenors while the mahogany body keeps the tone warm rather than bright.
