A short-scale, 3/4-size version of the Precision Bass concept, built for smaller players, students and travel rather than as a scaled-down toy.
About the Squier Mini Precision Bass
The Mini Precision Bass shrinks the classic P-Bass formula to a short scale of around 28.6 inches on a proportionally smaller poplar body and slim bolt-on maple neck, keeping the split single-coil P pickup and familiar control layout rather than substituting a cheaper single-coil design. The shorter scale means lower string tension at standard tuning, which changes feel and tone slightly compared to a full-scale P-Bass but does not turn it into a different instrument electronically.
Its main audience is players with smaller hands, younger beginners sized out of standard instruments, and gigging or touring bassists who want a genuine-feeling backup or travel bass rather than a novelty. Because it retains a real split-coil P pickup instead of a simplified single-coil, it stays closer in tone to a standard Precision Bass than most short-scale entry instruments.

Sound character of the Squier Mini Precision Bass
Shrinking the scale to around 28.6 inches on a proportionally smaller body loosens string tension compared to a standard 34-inch P-Bass, softening the attack and rounding off the low end slightly while the split single-coil P pickup keeps the familiar thick, punchy P-Bass fundamental.

The history of the Squier Mini Precision Bass
Squier introduced the Mini P-Bass as part of its short-scale lineup alongside the Bronco Bass, aimed at players for whom a standard-scale instrument is impractical.
