A thinline crossover nylon-string built on Yamaha's APX guitar shape: slim nato body with a solid Sitka spruce top, a flatter fingerboard radius than traditional classical guitars, and an onboard preamp with tuner.
About the Yamaha NTX1
The NTX1 applies Yamaha's slim, cutaway APX steel-string body shape to a nylon-string instrument, aimed at players transitioning from electric or steel-string guitars who find traditional classical guitar proportions and technique unfamiliar. The body is slim nato with a solid Sitka spruce top, considerably thinner than a traditional classical guitar's body depth. The nato neck carries a walnut fingerboard at a comparatively flat 600mm (23.6-inch) radius and 48mm nut - narrower and flatter than the traditional 52mm/flat-fretboard classical spec, closer to a modern steel-string's feel.
Electronics are an under-saddle pickup through Yamaha's own preamp with onboard 3-band EQ and a built-in tuner, letting the guitar go straight into a PA or amp without additional gear. The bridge combines ebony and walnut, with urea nut and saddle rather than bone.

Sound character of the Yamaha NTX1
The slim nato body behaves tonally similar to mahogany - warm, midrange-focused, with less bass resonance than a full-depth classical - while the solid Sitka spruce top keeps the attack defined; the flatter fingerboard radius and built-in preamp with 3-band EQ point this squarely at amplified crossover playing rather than unplugged acoustic projection.

The history of the Yamaha NTX1
Yamaha's NX/NTX series was developed to bring nylon-string tone to players and settings where a traditional classical guitar's body size and neck width would be unfamiliar or impractical, extending the company's APX steel-string design philosophy to nylon strings.
